
Since 2002 one of Canada's most colourful events has taken place every year
in Nanaimo BC, Canada.
The 2008 Canadian Bodypainting Championships™ will be the biggest
bodypainting theme art event yet. Aritsts from all over North America are
invited to this unique event to share their artwork with participating
photographers. The championship starts on September 6th for both the Brush &
Sponge Category and the Airbrush Category. The 2008 Canadian Bodypainting
ChampionshipsT theme is "It's A Jungle Out There".
With this bodyart event, photography is an essential part of the

Categories
There are the two categories: “Photo” and “Digital Art”
- Photo:
In this category photos are shown which are close to the original photo. Photos which have not been altered or transformed excessively with a photo editor. Of course corrections are allowed to be made, but the photo should keep its original meaning.
- Digital Art:
In this category photos are changed in their originality. The digital art category has no boundries but the bodypainting art or the festival should still be the main content.
After the championship ends, the best photos from the event will be judged by a jury and subsequently awarded prizes. There will be cash prizes and/or photo equipment to be won. All submissions will be shown in a projection show the following year. Some of the photos may also be highlighted in our photo catalogue and/or the CBPC website..
Rules:
- Photographer registration is mandatory and the photographer must wear the appropriate wrist band at all times.
- Assistants are not allowed in the photo restricted area.
- Only photos taken at the festival main days (September 5 - 6 2008) will be eligible and must be recognizable from the 2008 championships.
- Digital art should show use of digitally enhancing and changing the image.
- Photographers may enter a maximum 6 photo prints [Size minimum 20x30 cm, maximum 30x45 cm] and an additional maximum 6 digital photos.
- Additionally, the photo prints must also be submitted in digital form (CD Rom). This allows the works to be highlighted on the festival website and/or for print in the photo catalogue as well as for the projection show in subsequent years. [Data on CD Rom in jpg format, 300 dpi resolution with minimal lost of quality and 20x30 cm or 2360 x 3540 pixels minimum, RGB colour scheme].
- Closing date for entries is the 15th October 2008.
- Photographers must give assign a unique name for each (photo and digital art work as well.
- Images cannot be submitted in both the photo and digital art categories.
- The rights to publish and display all submitted images (with proper credit) sent in will be retained by the Canadian Bodypainting Championships Ltd™ and their organizers. In addition the images may be on exhibition during subsequent championships and may be displayed on the official championship website.
- A photo catalogue will be published and made available to all participants by January 2009.
Photo Rights
Photos can be used without request for any publications and promotions of The Canadian Bodypainting Championships™. With photo exhibitions or other photo competitions please give acknowledgement to The Canadian Bodypainting Championships™ in Nanaimo BC.
Photos are not for any commercial usage without the agreement of the model, the artist and the organizer.
Photo Ticket Details
- Entry to the festival grounds on the 2 main days, Friday 5 to Saturday 6 of September.
- Entry to the restricted photo-contest area (Photo Award Area).
- Entry to the restricted area in front of the main stage.
- Admission to the festival nights in the festival area.
- Participation in the “The Canadian National Bodypainting Photo Award” contest.
- Photo catalogue.
- Fee: $100.
